Sally Hansen Sugar Coats textured polish swatches and review

Hey Peeps! It's taken me some time to get this post up, I keep getting sidetracked by random life things. Alas, I bring you 3 shades from Sally Hansen's new textured polish line, Sugar Coats. Arg, still not diggin' the textured trend. Regardless of my thoughts, I know that most of you like 'em so here we go! Btw, I purchased these myself to give you guys a bit more insight on the Pinkey Nails textured prototypes from my last review. Since I had yet to try textured polish, SC seemed to be the way to go. They're $5.49 a piece at Target, I've yet to see anything cheaper. Not sure how much JulieG Frosted Gumdrops are, but there aren't any Rite Aids in Oklahoma- so those are unobtainable for me. Check out these Sugar Coats though...

Meet Razzleberry. I was disappointed with this one. It's a gorgeous color with a runny formula. Caused me to make a mess on my cuticles, so the relationship was doomed from that point on. Compared to the other textured polishes I've tried so far, this one seems way too thin. Dry time wasn't too bad though. My swatches for all the Sugar Coats in this review show 2 coats btw. Here's a closeup shot of Razzleberry...
It does look like a bunch of sugar was poured into a bottle of polish. I hate the texture, reminds me of those crappy metal nail files. You know the ones I'm talking about right? Those grotesque, dangerous-looking things our moms and grandmas always carried around in their purses. Ugh. Maybe I'll use the Sugar Coats for some nail art, who knows. Next up is Cotton Candies...
Another awesome shade that, unfortunately to me, looks like someone ruined it by pouring a bunch of sugar or fine grade sand in the bottle :/ This one's formula was easier to work with though, it wasn't as thin as Razzleberry. Dry time seemed pretty good. Here's a closeup...
Hmmm, still not sold on the textured polish but it is a pretty color. Anywho, Let's have a look-see at the third Sugar Coat. Here's my personal favorite, if I had to choose a favorite that is...It is Sour Apple!
It's not too terrible looking, right? Sour Apple didn't give me any issues, the formula seemed good to me. It was just like Cotton Candies. I hate removal of these things though, I get sand or whatever that stuff is everywhere. Here's another closeup for ya...
I love the color, but as with the others - I doubt I will wear it, might implement it into some nail art or something. So, my opinions on the three Sally Hansen's Sugar Coats I've reviewed for ya today...It's pretty obvious, I don't like them. But at $5.49 a piece at Target, it seemed like these were the smartest choice for me. I didn't want to waste too much money on something I was already convinced I didn't care for. But like I said earlier, nail art- maybe. Look...
So, I noticed 2 of the Sugar Coats and one of the Pinkey Nails prototypes matched my yoga pants pretty good. FYI - I don't do yoga, but I've recently noticed another thing...I wear more yoga pants than anything :/ Well, what the hell? When I do work, I work from home so why not be comfy right? Besides, those are friggin CUTE. Anywho, I actually had fun creating that mani. And it didn't look too bad, think I managed to wear it like a whole day & a half before I removed it. Seems like the Sugar Coats didn't feel quite as rough by that point either. I'm hoping to find some nail art contests soon so I can make use of these things, they really did surprise me at how fun they were to play with. Something retarded that I noticed though...I've shopped at 4 different area Targets over the past couple weeks. ALL of the Sugar Coats Displays only have 4 different colors. WTF is up with that? I got all but Bubble Plum, I didn't like that color enough to justify it's purchase. Another weird thing, these area Targets all have the same 6 shade SH Fuzzy Coats displays! DAMNIT! I actually liked those things, so I bought all of them. Or so I thought. Till one of my readers on FB and my daughter both pointed out there's 8 shades on the site! I am annoyed that these other shades aren't currently available around me. I would most likely pick up a few more Sugar Coats, and I would definitely snatch up the other two Fuzzies :/ So....what's your opinions about Sally Hansen Sugar Coats and the textured polish trend in general? Have you tried any yet? Like 'em, love 'em, hate 'em? Let me know what you think in the comments folks, I enjoy hearing from ya! Oh, don't forget to enter my giveaway. I just added an international prize too, wooo! Click here to enter, good luck! Type at ya later peeps!

*UPDATE* International Prize Added - Giveaway Time! Spring Has Sprung Guilty Pleasures Giveaway

**UPDATE**
The giveaway is now open internationally! Yay, now I don't feel like such a turd. The gift card will be an international only prize. Basically the same rules apply, except the international winner will have the gift card emailed rather than shipped. 48 hours to respond or another international winner will be chosen, yada yada yada. Consider it a small token of my appreciation for following along with my madness. Specifically Melissa D. Miss Claw of Cthulhu, if it weren't for your helpful advice from the start I would've given up months ago. Seriously. My photos and my reviews were embarrassing. Anywho, enough needless typing. International folks also enter via the widget below. So what are you waiting for? Get to it!

Hey Peeps! This is a bit belated, but better late than never right? Here's the dealio...I figured there's no better time than the present to have another giveaway, there's plenty of reasons to celebrate. Here's just a few...It's Spring, my favorite season of the year duh?! My awesome polish pal Sara, owner of Pinkey Nails, was married over the weekend. Congrats Sara! Oh, and my wedding anniversary is coming up July 11. My daughter is now an official Junior High student, 7th grade already! It doesn't seem like very long ago we were shuffling her back & forth from half-day kindergarten. She finished her last day as an elementary student on Thursday, as if I wasn't already tripping about getting old she will also be turning 12 June 14! Another bit of good news, the tornado last week missed our apartment, my daughter's school, and hub's store by blocks. I'm very grateful for that, and I may have mentioned that a couple times over the passed week. Again I will ask you to please keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers. Oh, one more bit of good news for me...I managed to land another contract after 2 months of nothing, which means extra polish monies for me! No, actually I will most likely end up spending my money and a good chunk of hub's money next month on our not-so-cheap junior high schooler. Oh, and I must say...to the piece of SHIT that stole my daughter's cell phone and head phones while she was shopping at Ghettoville Target with my mother...I hope it rots your f!%king head from the inside out. Seriously, brain cancer wishes and chemo filled dreams to you my friend. It was an old, outdated crap phone that we planned to replace on her birthday anyway - but that is beside the point. What kind of f$!ktard steals a phone from a 12 year old? Argh! Tween girls are f$%king nuts too, she bawled and carried on about that till I wished I could find the perpetrator and do really awful things to them for an extended period of time. Jackholes make me mad. Anyway, back to the giveaway! I thought it appropriate to have some of my guilty pleasures for prizes, those pleasures being some sweet ass indies :) The first prize is sponsored by Sara of Pinkey Nails. She was awesome enough to send a bottle of her own creation, Spotted Orchid. She's also added 2 Kleancolors in Black and Neon Lime, a pack of assorted rhinestones, femo, and flocking powder.
The second prize is my favorite polish set in the world...The Berry Duo by A Girl Obsessed! I had to order those the second I got a chance, then decided since I love them so much I should share the love with one of my readers. Thank you Sam, aka, A Girl Obsessed for sponsoring your awesomeness! Seriously, you peeps are lucky. Check it out...
You can click here to see my swatches of the Berry Duo. LOVE! Ok, now the rules and junk...I'm still not able to do international shipping, so this one is yet again US ONLY. Sorry to my international peeps. I know it's lame :( Facebook, Etsy, & blogger, etc aren't affiliated with me, the other 2 chickies involved, or the giveaway. Speaking of giveaways, it will end at 12am CST on July 1. After entries are verified, the winners will be contacted by email. They will have 48 hours to respond or another winner will be chosen. We love bubble wrap, but we hate broken polish bottles so we will wrap them with care. However, we can not be held responsible for lost or damaged pretties. And now I think that about does it for technicalities so get to entering! Good luck!

Nail Art Contest Submission - Check out my berry cute mani!

Hey hey Peeps! How goes it? I'm doing great, thanks for asking! I decided to enter another nail art contest. You know I suck at nail art but this time I actually managed to make something that wasn't just completely stupid looking! Yay! I shall give you all the details at the conclusion of my post so you can enter too. You don't have to be a pro, just have fun! Here's what I created for the competition...

I wont even try to lie to ya, I love this! Most likely the cutest nail art I've ever created. Don't laugh, it's not funny. I told ya I wasn't a pro! Anywhooser, the strawberry mani idea came after 2 failed attempts at a leopard print mani. Check it out, and feel free to laugh at this one...
I think it looks more like a giraffe than a leopard, wtf? Hmmm, maybe my blobs are too big? Agh, I'll get better with practice. I hope. It still ain't too bad for my first attempt, I guess? Oh well, back to the strawberry mani. For no other reason than the fact I want to, hows about I flash another berry shot...
I used China Glaze Red Satin as the base, Sinful Colors Exotic green for the tops, and gold Salon Perfect nail art paint for the seeds. Why gold? Because I discovered I need to buy a new bottle of black polish, this one's almost empty and it's SUPER gooey. I had little black threads all over my fingers when I attempted the leopard print so I decided to NOT ruin my strawberry mani. I think I made a good choice, the gold seeds are cuter, AND since it was nail art paint it came with a super skinny brush. I should seriously invest in some nail art tools if I'm ever going to get any good at this crap. Anywho, not bad for being artistically challenged. The hardest part about nail art for me is trying to come up with something cute AND unique. And the fact that I'm a ghetto nail artist if there ever was one doesn't help. One of my most used tools in my artsy-fartsy nail fail creations is a damn toothpick. I did NOT use a toothpick for the strawberry mani however. LMAO, I actually just wiped off the gold art brush & used it to draw the green tops after I finished dabbing on my gold strawberry seeds :) So, it's doubtful I'll ever be featured in NailedIt Magazine or anything like that, but I did manage to create some nail art that wasn't totally retarded.

I recommend you enter Lynda's nail art competition btw. Like I said before, you don't have to be a pro- just have some fun! Check out The Nail Files by Lynda on Facebook here and check out her blog post here for all the dirty details. Oh, there's still a couple days left to enter her rafflecopter giveaway so click the giveaway tab at the top of her Facebook page to enter. You never know, might win some rare polish! As far as the nail art competition goes, there will be 3 winners, each get some awesome Creations by Lynda hand-mixed nail polish!
